Matt Hutchings, University of East Anglia
NRP-226

Colonies of Streptomyces coelicolor growing on an agar plate and making the blue antibiotic actinorhodin that gives it its species name (coelicolor = colour of the heavens). Scientists at the University of East Anglia on the Norwich Research Park are rewiring natural signal transduction pathways in actinomycetes to activate the production of silent and novel antibiotics.
