Leafcutter ant fungus garden
Matt Hutchings, University of East Anglia

Acromyrmex octospinosus Leafcutter worker ants tending their fungus garden. Leafcutter ants belong to the tribe Attini and started cultivating fungi 50-60 million years ago. Leafcutter ants use antibiotics, just like us. We live on the Norwich Research Park with @matthutchings10. Visit our website for the antcam and animations.
